Frequently asked questions

Is congressional stock trading legal?

Yes. Members of Congress are legally allowed to trade stocks. The STOCK Act (2012) requires covered transactions to be disclosed, generally no later than 45 days after the transaction. Congressional Trader surfaces those public disclosures.

How current is the data?

We monitor official House and Senate STOCK Act disclosure portals daily. The law allows a delay between a transaction and its public filing, so some trades may be weeks old when they appear.

What is a watch?

Create a free account to receive email for one ticker or lawmaker watch after a new public disclosure is processed. Pro supports unlimited watches, Daily Briefs, and Weekly Reviews.

Is this investment advice?

No. Congressional Trader provides informational content derived from public government disclosures. Nothing on this site constitutes investment advice. Always do your own research before making investment decisions.
